Pam & Jon // Intimate Couples Session

Pam and Jon took a weekend away in the blue ridge mountains this February - surely a cosy time to stay indoors by a wood burning stove perhaps - but for us it was an exciting adventure out into the grey mist and fog presiding over the blue ridge parkway. Pam is a photographer at the North Carolina coast, and is rarely in front of the camera. Whatever the weather, Pam and Jon wanted a romantic session that they could treasure for themselves. While we hoped for some long range views, the fog that rolled in heavy and cool was there to stay. So instead of trying to find an indoor location or rescheduling, we went for it. Shooting in very thick fog can be quite challenging, as the white blanket tricks the camera light meter into darker tones and can cover the subjects in a grainy haze that can affect the clarity of the portrait. But we took our time. I’m just really grateful for Pam and Jon’s sweet nature and adventurous spirits as we ventured out into fields and rivers, not being able to see in front of us but embracing the romantic nature of a calm winter’s day. Here are some of my favorites from the day.
